Quick answers for the Model 100 (Clarus™)
The questions ELT Service hears most, answered from the user guide. For anything else, ask on the community board or call. A person answers.
Why does it squeal or howl?
That is feedback: sound from the speaker reaches the microphone. Turn the volume down at once and point the speaker away from the microphone. Near a wall or board, slide the amplifier toward your listeners.
Why does my voice sound breathy, or pop?
The capsule is in front of your mouth, in the path of your breath. Move it beside the corner of your mouth, with the flat side facing your mouth.
The pilot light is on, but there is no sound.
Push the microphone plug fully into the jack. If you use the pencil microphone, check that its mute switch is off.
There is no sound and the pilot light is off.
Turn the volume control clockwise. If the light stays off, charge the batteries overnight. In an emergency, fit four AA alkaline cells. Never attempt to recharge single-use batteries (alkaline or carbon zinc): they will leak.
How should I charge the Model 100?
Charge for 12 to 14 hours before first use, then overnight (at least 8 hours) as a routine, indoors at room temperature. The charge indicator is red while charging and green when charged. Standard AA alkaline cells get you through a day in an emergency: never attempt to recharge single-use batteries, they will leak.
The batteries no longer last the day.
Charge overnight (8 to 12 hours). If a full charge still does not last the day, the cells have aged. Replace all four at the same time.
My voice fades when I turn my head.
This happens with the collar microphone. Keep head movements small, or switch to the headset.
